Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Information Science and Life Science for Leading Researchers on Data Science

Program Outline
This MEXT scholarship is offered for the special program "Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Information Science and Life Science for Leading Researchers on Data Science", which has been granted to SOKENDAI by MEXT. This program aims at developing next-generation global researchers and highly skilled professionals who are capable of leading researches on data science as well as other scientific fields to which data science approaches can be applied.
For this program, application is open to anybody who has any nationality of a county that has diplomatic relations with Japanese government. However, based on the strategy by Japanese government on accepting foreign students to gain from the advancements of other countries, around 40% of the positions are targeted for applicants from South-East Asian countries in this program.
Monbukagakusho: MEXT (the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship
The MEXT scholarship provides one round-trip airfare to Japan and a monthly stipend, in accordance with the regulations of MEXT. MEXT scholarship recipients are not expected to pay any entrance examination, admission, or tuition fees. Graduate Institute for Advanced Studies Application Guidelines
International Ph.D. Program on Quantum Technology for Space〜Particle〜Material〜Energy Science

Number of Scholarships Available: there are eight scholarships.
Program Outline
This MEXT scholarship is offered for the special program "International Ph.D. Program on Quantum Technology for Space〜Particle〜Material〜Energy Science" in SOKENDAI. The purpose of the program is to cultivate global researchers and highly skilled professionals of the next generation, who should lead researches on the development and application of quantum technology to contribute development of a sustainable society. In this special program, basic as well as applied research fields of space, particle, material, and energy sciences should be emphasized. The Graduate Institute for Advanced Studies of SOKENDAI will accept a total of eight outstanding students for 5-year Ph.D. programs starting in October of 2023 who are keen to study in the above fields under the name of this program. For this program, the application is open to anybody with any nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with the Japanese government. At least 50% of the scholarship students are selected from Southeast Asian countries in this program.
